Jim Gaffigan poster contest

I think Jim Gaffigan is the funniest family-friendly comedian working today...so when they announced a poster contest for one of his shows over at this site: http://node.nerdist.com/
I just had to give it a shot -- even tho I didn't really have time for such a thing. More practice with the painterly Illustrator style I've been goin' with.

Obscure Super Troopers reference alert!

Horror comic sample pages

So, that's how it happens. It's been over a month since my last post. Life gets busy and blog updates drop down the list. Had to get the ol' part-time job to supplement the freelance career - or is it the other way around? Regardless, I'm still trying to draw more and find illustration work. These pages were a submission to a call-for-artists over at Digital Webbing, and a chance to practice a traditional inking style and use more puns. Kinda creepy and gross compared to what I have been posting here...later!

Illustration Friday: brave

Here's my Illustration Friday entry for: brave.
This fun little guy is one of a set of retro Golden Book style illos used in scenes on our graphic design website. I am finishing up 3 pages for a comic book sample that I hope to post this weekend. Stay tuned!

Sample page - Online call for artists

I did up this sample page after hearing about a pretty well-known writer seeking a pretty unknown artist to work on a kid-friendly project with a "major publisher". Thought I would throw my hat in the ring -- and get to draw Mercury the Monkey again!

Illustration Friday: Adrift

This weeks subject over at Illustration Friday was: adrift. I created Mercury Monkey for our website a while back and he keeps wanting to star in illustrations like this. Space Monkeys in Space!!! Here he is somewhere in the cosmos, navigating through cheese-like asteroids on the stellar Mississippi!

Illustration Friday: muddy

This weeks subject over at Illustration Friday is: muddy. I know we all have Olympic fever by now, and I know we are all worried that they have enough snow up there in Vancouver for all of the outdoor events! Those Canucks have great healthcare, but no snow for the Winter Olympics? C'mon! I hope conditions don't get as poor as this...

CoCo Super Bowl

I felt like Conan missed out again by not being in that Late Show commercial! Maybe this illustration (and the $40 million settlement) will make him feel better...
He should consider developing and marketing that orange CoCo Cola! Trying out more of that wash-style coloring.
